Research question

How should solar PV, battery storage and backup generation be sized for an industrial research campus to meet demand through grid outages, and how do equipment failures and maintenance affect a battery production line and a wind farm?

My contribution

Intern. Built the microgrid sizing model and the production-line simulation, and proposed the wind-farm maintenance framework.

How I approached it

  1. ChallengeThree industrial questions, outage resilience, production-line reliability and wind-farm maintenance, called for different modeling tools.

What I didI built a techno-economic sizing model for the campus microgrid and a discrete-event simulation of the battery production line, and proposed an optimization-based maintenance framework for the wind farm.

Why it matteredEach method fits its question: meeting demand through grid outages, and how failures and maintenance affect a production line.

Method

Techno-economic optimization for resilient microgrid sizing; discrete-event simulation of a battery manufacturing line; and optimization methods for wind-farm maintenance planning.

Boundary conditions

Industry work: company data, models and results are confidential and are not shown here.

Outputs

Internal company reports; not public.

Reproducibility

Not public (company work).
